
The Holland, Michigan, American Legion Band is celebrating its 90th year and traveling to Europe in June 2009 to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion. Many members of the band have been with the band over four decades. Listen to their story here.

Brief Itinerary (as of 2/10/09)
June 4 – Departure (overnight flight) June 5 – Arrival in Paris – travel to Caen in Normandy - visit Caen Memorial/Museum June 6 – Participate in 65th D-Day Anniversary Ceremonies at Utah Beach and perform in
Saint-Lo. June 7 – Sightseeing and
performance at the Normandy American Cemetery Monument (Colleville-sur Mer),
Carentan and
Arromanches. June 8 – Travel to Paris – sightseeing June 9 – Travel to the Bastogne area with stop in Aisne-Marne Cemetery in Belleau, where Willard G. Leenhouts is buried (
hold brief ceremony.) June 10 – Travel to and joint performance in
Middelburg, Zeeland Province Capitol, with the
Middelburg Muziekkorps. June 11 – Travel to and joint performance with the
Excelsior Grootorkest from Wassenaar (concert probably at the American School of the Hague.) (Both days sightseeing and visiting historic WWII sites in the Netherlands.) June 12 – Travel to Amsterdam – sightseeing – farewell dinner June 13 – Return to USA

June 16 - Homecoming (first regular season) Concert in Kollen Park.
